An Ulverstone based community group has decided to set up a not-for-profit funeral service, after getting public feedback about the high cost of funerals.
Lynne Jarvis, who is part of the Compassionate Communities project, said over a series of public meetings, they had identified the need for a funeral service that people could afford, and which offered more options.
"It's driven by funeral poverty."
"Everywhere needs a Tender Funerals."
"There needs to be a choice for people, something that offers a different approach.
"Our funerals will only cost what they cost; there's no profit margin. And that can assist people.
